摘要

We all remember how, on September 11, 2001, air travel and transport came virtually to a standstill. Today, airline companies are still struggling with the impact of those events -- and so are those who rely on their services, including flower shippers. Surcharges for increased security are translating into higher shipping costs--which could eventually mean higher prices at your local wholesaler. Meanwhile, some buyers and shippers are now looking at alternative sources and means of delivery. Flowers often make part of their journey from grower to retailer in the cargo hold of passenger flights. But since September 11, such flights have been cut back. As a result, flower shippers are now vying with each other and with other commodities for limitedspace.
