Coaltrans gets silver

As ever, the industry's leading players attended the coal market's premier annual autumn meeting. Most appeared to be in a bearish mood but offering few clues as to how far they thought prices might fall or indeed when any recovery might occur. But the conference this year was extra special - the Silver Anniversary of the first event held in 1981. Celebrations included honouring the 35 attendees of that first meeting who were present in Paris and an Achievement Awards dinner. A distinguished line-up of speakers was headed by Roger Wicks, head of energy at Anglo American plc and chairman of the World Coal Institute, who gave the keynote address.
