By almost every measure, Cheshire, Connecticut, is a small town. It occupies a mere 33 square miles. The population is only 26,000. It has one high school and one middle school. Its principal claim to fame is—drum roll, please—that it's the bedding-plant capital of the state. But to Sylvia Nichols AIFD, owner of The Window Box, Cheshire is much, much more. Where others see a sleepy little suburb dwarfed by nearby Hartford, New Haven and Waterbury, Sylvia envisions endless potential for growth. Andnever mind that she's one of only two florists in town. She runs her shop as aggressively as any major metropolitan florist fighting off a pack of rivals.
