Combining cut flowers and plants is easy, effective, and very much in vogue. Traditionally, the January issue of FLOWERS& is filled with information about the trends for the coming year. This year, two very talented designers share their vision of what is going to be hot. Liz Seiji AIFD and Gerry Toh AIFD have teamed up, done their research, and on pages 37-55 in this issue, present the colors, flowers, and containers that will be on the cutting edge of style in 2004. A very exciting trend that is also one of the simplest is the use of potted plants, sometimes mixed with cut flowers, to create uniquely serene and striking designs. Liz created two designs using this strategy. The mechanics are easily accomplished, and if the design includes cut flowers, the recipient can continue to enjoy the potted plants when the flowers have fully matured.
