Study on Trends and Performance of Landfill Research from 1999 to 2013 by Using Bibliometric Analysis

Using related literature published during the period from 1999 to 2013 in journals from the Science Citation Index (SCI), this study aims to explore a bibliometric approach to quantitatively assessing current research trends on landfill. The articles acquired from such literature, using landfill* as the string to search titles, abstract and keywords, were concentrated on the general analysis by bibliometric indicators. A significant growth trend in publication outputs, along with more and more participation of countries/territories, was found during the study period. Many articles were published by 2413 publications during the study period and Waste Management published the most articles. Though the developed countries published the majority of the world articles, however, the national concentration concerning landfill research has become more and more unconspicuous. An analysis of the title words and keywords showed that landfill leachate attracted the most attention from researchers during the research period. 2015 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Environ Prog, 34: 13491355, 2015
