Large funds to pour in upgrading Lianyungang port

Government of Lianyungang has recently mapped out a development plan for the "Eleventh Five Year Plan Period"(2006-2G10) to invest 18.9 billion yuan(USD2.36 billion) in upgrading the Lianyungang port in a bid to make it an internationally modern deep-water port with functions serving for multipurpose. During the 2006-2010, the port's 150,000T deep-water sea-route project will be finished; a new container berth and a passenger berth will be constructed. A 100,000T alumina pert will be constructed at Qitai, a 100,000T chemical fertilizer pert, a 250,000 mineral ore pert, a 300,00T crude oil pert and a 3.0 million tonnnes LNG(liquid natural gas) pert will also built in the period.
