There has been increasing focus recently on the importance of road verges as a habitat for wildlife and as corridors for the movement and dispersal of species. Plantlife's Road Verge Campaign highlights how, if correctly managed, our verges could become a nationwide network of flower-rich grassland - a habitat that has decreased by 97% in Britain over the past century.
