Coal deliveries to ports improve

Supplies of Russian coal for export improved in March from February and all limitations imposed earlier by state-owned railway operator RZD were cancelled by the middle of this month. Improved weather conditions, optimisation pro- cesses at far eastern and northwestern railways, higher coal unloading and release of warehouse spaces at ports have led to higher coal supply to ports and border crossings in March, market participants said. RZD notes a sharp increase in the average volumes of daily coal transportation to southern and northwestern ports in the first half of March compared to the last month and on the year.
