Ankle range of motion vs. Venous ulcer healing rate: A complex relationship

In this issue, the study by Yim et al.! focuses on the potential role of restricted ankle mobility for venous ulcer healing. Comparing healed and nonhealed patients after 12 weeks, no association was found between the mobility of the ankle joint at baseline and ulcer healing. This surprising result may be explained by the possibility that the positive effects of compression may have overcome the negative influence of reduced ankle mobility.
