VEGETATION AND FLORA OF AN OPEN CAST COAL MINED AREA IN SOUTH BOLANDA, TALCHER, ORISSA

摘要

The natural vegetation and flora of a unreclaimed open-cast coal mined land of South Bolanda, Talcher, Orissa after 40 years of abandonment was studied. Development of sparse vegetation cover with less diversified species composition and predominanceof herbaceous taxa were the characteristics of the vegetation on mine wastes. A total of 185 species of plants representing under genera and belonging to 48 families found to occur in the locality have been enumerated in the paper.
