1.Contractors have until 16 April to try to prequalify for a ￡3.8m scheme to replace Clyde Bridge in Lanark for South Lanarkshire Council. The project comprises a 90-metre single span proprietary steel bridge to replace the existing reinforced concrete bridge structure, plus a stretch of wide carriageway. The proposed approach carriageway will follow a different route and the work will include new approach roads to the North and South to link to the existing C29 Pettinain Road. Five contractors will be shortlisted for the job, which is expected to start in January 2022 and take 18 months to complete. 2. Dyer & Butler has bagged an estimated ￡8.5m deal for work at the Gablecross roundabout on Stratton Street for Swindon Borough Council. The job is part of a major ￡72.5m project to improve roads in the east of Swindon before work begins on the New Eastern Villages residential scheme that will see 8,000 houses built to the east of the A419. Atkins is working for the council on the Gablecross scheme and work is expected to commence this summer.
