Growing ice cream sales will consume more frozen fruits

SCORCHING temperatures in Europe during summer 2003 helped to push up global sales of ice cream by 3.5% to 13.5 billion litres, while value sales grew even more rapidly by almost 10% to exceed US45 billion dollar. Given that huge volumes of frozen fiu it are used in ice cream manufacturing, the upward trend will undoubtedly impact on the international frozen fruit trade, where year-on-year increases are now taken as a matter of course.
