2021 SEP 21 (NewsRx) - By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Disease Prevention Daily - New research on Health and Medicine - Diet and Nutrition is the subject of a report. According to news reporting originating in Nuthetal, Germany, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, "We aimed to evaluate age-dependent changes of six trace elements (TE) [manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), iodine (I), and selenium (Se)] over a 20-year period. TE concentrations were determined using repeated serum samples taken at baseline and after 20 years of follow-up from 219 healthy participants of the EPIC-Potsdam study, using inductively coupled plasma tandem mass spectrometry." Funders for this research include TraceAge-DFG Research Unit on Interactions of essential trace elements in healthy and diseased elderly, Potsdam-Berlin-Jena, Federal Ministry of Science, Germany, European Commission, Deutsche Krebshilfe, European Commission, Federal Ministry of Education & Research (BMBF), State of Brandenburg.
