摘要

Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) skippers and navigators are highly competitive individuals who constantly seek to stay ahead of their counterparts by maximizing their speed over the shortest distance on the most direct course. But they're not only concerned about crossing the line first, they also worry about the safety of their boat and crew while trying to preserve their sails. This delicate balancing act is no easy task at the best of times, but when you're on a cutting edge VO70 that's being pushed beyond its design limits hundreds of miles from help in the unpredictable and gruelling Southern Ocean, it's literally a matter of life and death.
