Like you, the reader, I am a motorist too. I realise parking free is a luxury today, I too have bitter thoughts on the amount of taxes I am burdened with as a motorist. I object to being forced out of certain parts of the highway by red paint. (green in Scotland), or being shunted into out of town Park and Ride parks followed by the hassle of queuing in the rain for a bus. The fact of the matter is there are too many vehicles for our Town and City inner roads to cope with, so these measures are to prevent gridlock; road tolls into cities will have to come to try to stop the unwarranted journeys by the car. I accept reasonable parking fees but I would prefer to pay for them with a credit card instead of always having to find coinage; on the other hand I do not want to pay a higher fee for the privilege or for using a mobile phone.
