AE Yates, Aggregate Industries, Cemex, Hanson, Kier and Tarmac have returned bids for a ￡4.3 million package of resurfacing works for the Highways Agency at between junctions 33 and 34 of the M6 at Wigan. Work is scheduled to start in September and run for three months. Aggregates outfit Whitemountain and contractor Patrick Keenan have won a ￡3.9 million term maintenance deal for road surfacing across Belfast from the DRD Roads Department. Work starts this month. Alun Griffiths, Balfour Beatty, BAM Nuttall, Carillion, Dawnus, Jones Brothers and Vinci are all interested in a ￡3.5 million job for improvements to the Warren Bank Interchange on the A55 at Broughton in Cheshire. Flintshire County Council originally tendered the contract last year but has re-invited bids.
