Denton Relief Road, Gravesham, Kent

Gravesham Borough Council commissioned the construction of a new 0.6km road in Gravesham, known as the Denton Relief Road, which crosses a river flood plain and a former refuse disposal site. As traditional construction methods offered no guarantee of creating a stable road surface in the long-term, it was decided to use Fillmaster to build a 3m high embankment to overcome the lack of support from the soft clay soil.
