First highways Academy

The first training academy for the highways construction industry has been launched by the Midlands Highways Alliance. The academy will provide apprenticeships, graduate placements and day release training to professional trainees at local colleges. A full-time project skills coordinator will be charged with achieving over 100 project targets over the next four years. The Alliance comprises 13 local highway authorities and the Highways Agency. The academy is part of Construction Skills' National Skills Academy programme.
