Bardon, Hanson and Tarmac are in the running for a ￡1 million deal to renew the A66 between Surtees Bridge and Yarm Road in Cleveland for the Highways Agency. Tenders are due back on October 18 and work is expected to start in February next year. BAM Nuttall, Birse, Carillion and local outfit Jones Brothers are vying for a ￡8 million improvements scheme on the A487 at Glandyfi Ceredigion in Machynlleth, south Wales, for the Welsh Assembly. Tenders are due back on November 12 and work, which will be supervised by Parsons Brinckerhoff, will start early next year.
