Four share ￡300m framework

Four contractors have been chosen for The Midlands Highway Alliance (MHA] Medium Schemes Framework which is worth up to ￡300m over the next four years. The teams who made it are Tarmac/Carillion joint venture, Ringway, Bam Nuttall and Balfour Beatty/ Birse. The MHA formed in 2007 and is a collaboration of 13 Midlands-based Local Authorities plus the Highways Agency who joined together to make efficiency savings in the procurement of contractors and highway commodities.At July 2009, cumulative savings of ￡2.42 million had been achieved across highways maintenance and improvements, projected to rise to ￡16.75 million by 2013.
