Connecting with other societies: A report from Southeast Asia with a tsunami update

You have probably read many times in these pages about the value of interacting and collaborating with other like societies—it is a topic uppermost on the agenda of every SEG president. SEG has active affiliations and programs too numerous to mention here with our well-known sister societies (some of whom are also official sections of SEG) in the geosciences. One of the most exciting challenges I face is to extend these relationships and to probe for new opportunities. Recently, I had the opportunity to open new doors in this regard and would like to share this with our members.
