Background to the trial

Following an exploratory visit to Genan's plant in Germany, Breedon carried out extensive tests on the modifier in its central laboratory and set out to design a special thin surfacing material appropriate for Britain's roads. Plant and surfacing trials were then carried out in a number of Breedon's quarries to check the designs according to strict performance criteria.
