WORLD milk production in 2010 is expected to rise by 1.6% from 2009, according to the latest analysis from the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). Although the figure of 710.3 million tonnes represents a recovery from the poor performance of2010, it is still low in terms of the 2.1% average annual growth seen over the past decade. Additional output from China and India, the main contributors to the boost in output, amounts to 8.4 million tonnes, and accounts for a huge 58% of the total global increase.
