Embiricos group gains $65m on boxship sale to CMA CGM

EMBIRICOS group has sold a nine-year-old boxship for $140m that was contracted for $75m. Prices paid for second-hand boxships are still soaring in the first month of 2022 and exceeding 'last done' levels after a record-breaking 2021 as the shortage of available ships for charter pushes rates and asset prices higher. CMA CGM, the world's third-largest container line, has purchased the 2013-built, 6,900 teu capacity Rhodos (IMO: 9635652) from Embiricos for $140m according to shipbroker reports.
