Quartet in running for ￡450m contract

A decision is imminent on a highways maintenance contract in Gloucestershire that could be worth up to ￡450 million to the successful contractor. Atkins has been the county council's partner since 2005 and is one of four bidders left in the race for the new deal, which starts in April 2014. The other groups in the mix are Amey and two joint ventures between Balfour Beatty/ Halcrow and Ringway/Jacobs.
