Infrastructure is the place to be, or so it would seem with significant government investment in our strategic road network and HS2 defying the recent Spending Review and securing the principle of economic investment going forward. So good news all round for the highways sector albeit that it brings with it the pressure of whether, as an overall sector, we have capacity or more crucially the capability to deliver the outcomes demanded by government. In an unusual act of joined up thinking the government have also thought of the capacity issue and are driving forward with their apprenticeship agenda in general and, with the appointment of Terry Morgan (as chair of the government's transport and infrastructure skills strategy), have quite specifically identified the demands for skills resulting from their investment plans for infrastructure. So far so good.
