Mistral

The Mistral is a very short-range fire-and-forget, infrared-guided missile developed by France's Matra for air defense against low-flying supersonic fighters, helicopters, and anti-ship missiles. It was initially known as SATCP, for Sol Air a Tres Court Portee—Surface-to-Air Very Short Range). In 2000, Matra introduced the new Mistral 2 version. The Mistral system is configured in a number of launcher versions besides the basic manportable version.
