JDRADM (Joint Dual Role Air Dominance Missile) is a new USAF effort to develop a next-generation medium-range missile to eventually replace the AIM-120 AMRAAM and AGM-88 HARM sometime around 2020. It uses active and passive radar guidance for both the air-to-air and anti-radar roles. The program began as a DARPA effort in 2006 as the Dual Role Air Dominance Missile (DRADM) as part of its Air Supremacy Integrating Concept to study technologies that might be used on a future aviation missile that could be employed both against enemy aircraft as well as selected enemy ground defenses such as SAM sites. A draft solicitation was released in February 2006. The initial program focused on missile propulsion and control systems.
