Uptrend to persist in market in August-September

A rise in domestic scrap prices in August-October will be driven by toughercompetition in the market amid higher needs for the material as mills willstart building stocks for winter. The biggest regional consumers in the Europeanpart of the country (CherMK, Novolipetsk Steel, NLMK-Kaluga) andin the Urals (MMK, NLMK-Ural) will play the key role until the major part ofstocks is built. Metal Expert believes the bulk of the material will be piled upby the second half of October, and mills will try to reduce purchase prices.
