Fire Shadow

Fire Shadow is a new initiative un-der Britain's Indirect Fire Precision Attack (IFPA) effort started in 2005 which aims to develop a loitering mu-nition that can operate over an area for up to ten hours before the operator se-lects a suitable target and carries out the terminal attack. The missile re-sembles a small UAV but is intended for terminal attack. The Fire Shadow program is being undertaken as a rapid deployment initiative with an aim to field an initial Block 1 missile by 2012 and then improve the design over the next several years to create an optimal design. The first productiOon tranche of about 25-50 missile began delivery to the Royal Artillery in March-April 2012.
