Uptrend to reverse in April

Over the first two weeks of March, export prices for A3 scrap rose by 4% in the Baltic Sea and stayed virtually unchanged in the Azov-Black Sea basin. Facing low profitability of longs production, Turkish mills will attempt raising rebar prices in April, simultaneously pressing for lower import scrap prices. In May-June, a steady downtrend is expected in the finished steel segment as well. In the circumstances, Turkish consumers will intensify their pressure on raw material suppliers supported by a seasonal increase in scrap collection.
