Market environment to improve in July

At the end of April, export prices for A3 steel scrap were 12-14% above end-March levels depending on region. Measures taken around the world to combat COVID-19 led to a drop in scrap collection, including in the home markets of the biggest US and European exporters. Limited availability will allow suppliers to keep scrap prices from falling in May-June, Metal Expert estimates. Taking into account an anticipated rise in demand for the material in July, traders may slightly increase prices.
