MGM-140/164/168 ATACMS

The MGM-140 ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) is a deep attack, semi-ballistic missile designed to strike second-echelon enemy forces. The missile is launched from the Army's MLRS (multiple-launch rocket system) M270 launcher. Low rate initial production (LRIP) was funded with FY89, and was accelerated to permit fielding the system during Operation Desert Storm. First deliveries of the missile were in early 1990. The initial Block 1 version uses an APAM submunition warhead.
