Scotland sets CO2 target

The government of Scotland intends to reduce CO2 emissions from power generation by more than 80pc by 2030. The government is targeting emissions of 50g CO2/kWh by 2030, compared with around 347g CO2/kWh in 2010. Scotland’s first minister, Alex Salmond, has called on the UK to lay out a similar goal. “UK coalition ministers’ mixed messages on energy policy… including the lack of a decarbonisation target until at least 2016, is undermining confidence and threatening investment by the supply chain,” he says.
