EU ETS reform consultation begins

The European Commission on 1 March held the first of two consultation meetings on options for structural measures to strengthen the EU emissions trading scheme (ETS). The two meetings focused on the six long-term policy options aimed at addressing a surplus of EU ETS allowances, as detailed in the commission’s State of the European Carbon Market in 2012 report published on 14 November (AGE, December, pp10-11).
