TATA STEEL PLANS TO CONSTRUCT HISARNA MODULE IN INDIA

India’s Tata Steel plans to invest in the construction of the second pilot plant (400-500,000 tpy) in India’s Jamshedspur within Phase II of HIsarna project, the local sources report, referring to the company’s representative announcement. HIsarna process is an iron-making smelting reduction process, where liquid iron is produced directly from iron ore fines and coal. Conventional blast furnace route includes three steps from raw materials to liquid metal, while HIsarna offers a single one, eliminating prior processing of raw materials (agglomeration and coking).
