Tata Steel and FNV co-operate for steel industry decarbonisation

In June Tata Steel and Federation of Dutch Trade Unions (FNV) jointly started preparations for an independent feasibility study, aiming to make steel production more sustainable, Metal Expert learn from the union’s statement. The research will study two routes: partial capturing and storing CO2 released from the BF’s residual gases, as well as production of blue hydrogen from the residual gases; and shift from BF to DRI technology with use of natural gas or hydrogen in combination with EAF process.
