Nippon Steel to expand electrical steel production in 2024

Japan’s Nippon Steel plans to complete its investment programme to increase capacity for electrical steel and enhance its quality in H1 FY2024 (April – September), Metal Expert learnt from the company’s quarterly report. The multi-stage programme will require JPY 104 billion (over USD 947 million). The scope of project includes reconstruction and installation of new pickling lines, cold-rolling mills, annealing lines, refining lines, and logistic system at Setouchi Works (Hirohata) and Kyushu Works (Yawata).
