Working Together to Create Value

It seems you can't read anything in the business and technology media these days without coming across the words social, collaboration and teams. What do these terms mean, how are they alike and different, and why is collaboration so important?Collaboration is important because we live and work in an increasingly complex environment in which we can accomplish far more by working together with shared goals than we can by working at cross purposes and competing internally. i define collaborationas working together to create value while sharing virtual or physical space. So the question i always ask is whether we're creating value. if we're not creating value, perhaps we're socializing or networking or disseminating information, but we're not necessarily collaborating.
