China’s Shenghe lifts Pr/Nd output in 2020

Chinese rare earth producer Shenghe Resources reported higher output of praseodymium-neodymium metal last year, despite temporary production shutdowns because of Covid-19 lockdowns in the country in the first quarter and floods in mid-August. The firm produced 8,356t of praseodymium-neodymium metal in 2020, up by 13.7pc from 7,346t a year earlier. Output of terbium metal rose by 18.8pc on the year to 57t, with combined production of dysprosium metal and ferrodysprosium falling by 64pc to 136t.
