摘要

In our laboratory, various testing methods were introduced step by step for emerging COVID-19 infection. First, gene amplification testing using the real-time PCR method was launched in March 2020. With the support of researchers, technicians, and laboratory equipment, which are unique to the university's medical school, start-up was possible at a relatively early stage. However, the burden on our laboratory technicians was significant, and the time required to report test results was long. Therefore, in May 2021, antigen quantification testing equipment was introduced and real-time PCR testing was discontinued. In addition to these, a one-step gene amplification testing device was introduced and utilized for night-time and holiday use. In view of the post-COVID-19 era, the operation of these devices is under consideration. Through the development of the testing system over the past two years, we have learned that: speed is the top priority in establishing a system to test for emerging infectious diseases, we must modify testing operations after their introduction, we must consider costs and reimbursement values, and we must fully consider the needs and challenges of technologists who will perform such testing.
