Drug treatment for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and suicidal behaviour: register based study

Is the use of drug treatment for attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) associated with an increased risk of suicidal behaviour? SUMMARY ANSWER No evidence was found for an overall increased risk of suicidal behaviour associated with use of ADHD drug treatment; if anything, the results pointed to a potential protective effect of ADHD drug treatment on suicidal behaviour, particularly for stimulant drugs.
