Appaloosas battle the breeds

A record-setting crowd cheered Team Appaloosa to a fourth place finish at this year's Telus Battle of the Breeds. The Battle is part of the Masters Tournament at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Different horse breeds are judged based on their abilities to perform in various events, including compulsory skills, jeopardy jumping, barrel racing, trail riding and precision driving. This year, four horse-and-rider combinations represented 13 breeds. Team Connemara took home the first place award, with Team Quarter Horse and Team Morgan in second and third places.
