Machining of CGI

Because of it's good characteristics Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) is a suitable material for engineblocks. Its machning - especially at higher speeds - is problematic. By investigating the wearmechanisms an optimization of the cutting tools, and therefore a distinct improvement of the toolscutting length can be achieved.
