摘要

A convenient and efficient protocol for the synthesis of phenanthridine-6-carbonitriles has been successfully developed involving a copper(II)-catalyzed tandem annulation of vinyl azides and NaN3 in the presence of Phl(OAc)2. A variety of functionalized phenanthridine-6-carbonitriles were synthesized in moderate to good yields under mild reaction conditions. Mechanistic study revealed that a radical pathway might be involved in this annulation reaction.
