摘要

Approximately a 50-year history of development of treatment of hypertension has resulted in a great variety of antihypertensive drugs available today for decrease of blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Regardless of their chemical structure and mechanism of action all antihypertensive drugs seem to have equal effect on blood pressure - average decrease of 10/5 mmHg for grade 1 hypertension and 20/10 mmHg in patients with higher grades [1]. All of those drugs were developed for only one purpose - to low blood pressure, i.e., to relieve one major symptom of the disease and not to stop underlying pathological process causing high blood pressure. Therefore, antihypertensive drugs are nothing more than purely symptomatic treatment.
