China consumed 47,422t of primary tungsten and 9,000t oftungsten scrap in 2019, down by 3.6pc and 2.6pc, respectively,from 2018, according to a Xiamen Tungsten financial report.Demand from the automobile and consumer electronicsindustries weakened in the past year, with auto productionfalling by 7.5pc on the year to 25.7mn units, and sales ofsmart phones declining by 6.2pc to 389mn units.
