Japan's semiconductor output rises in February

Japanese production of semiconductor components increased in February — even as output of other electronic components declined — reflecting strong demand for 5G and electric vehicle (EV) equipment. Production of linear integrated circuits (ICs) rose to 1.17bn in February, up from 1.16bn in January and 0.91bn in February 2019, trade ministry data show. Output of metal oxide logic ICs rose to 366.9mn in February from 327.8mn a year earlier. And production of hybrid ICs increased to 144.6mn from 127.6mn in February last year. An IC is an electronic circuit used in a semiconductor.
