Boliden halts tara mine operations

Swedish mining company Boliden has halted production at its Tara lead and zinc mine in the Republic of Ireland following containment measures imposed by the country's government to tackle the spread of the coronavirus. The Irish government introduced travel restrictions and lockdown measures on 28 March for at least 14 days in a bid to contain the spread of the virus. Ireland has 2,615 confirmed cases of the virus and a death toll of 46, according to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University virus tracker.
