Information Pros Move Out of the Information Center

In response to members' requests, SLA expanded the 2005 annual salary survey to enhance the results with additional information on benefits, trends in hiring and expenditures, and changes in job descriptions and competencies. A supplemental survey wasdirected to human resources managers in the members' organizations. One of the most interesting statistics for me has been the evidence that information professionals are moving out of their libraries or information centers into other departments or areas within their organizations. The results show that 55 percent of information professionals work outside the library or information center.
